Nakasero.com website is inspired by the
long tradition of open markets in Uganda and particularly, the city
market which has a similar name. Uganda has long cultivated a
“buyer-seller” culture where prices were always open to
discussion and revision. Nakasero.com enhances this culture by
giving it an “e-marketing” platform; one in which all
Ugandans can afford (free listings) and, with some computer literacy
and Internet access, many can enjoy. Nakasero.com is owned by BBNet
(the creators of Buuza.com – Uganda's number one online
directory) and it seeks to uphold these principles:
Open, accessible and
transparent trade among all, regardless of gender and physical
disability with the exception that one must be an adult (18 years
and over) and legally able to do business.
Expanding trade possibilities
such that, for instance, both rural and urban exchanges can occur.
Developing trading skills
through participating in such platform and which may inspire
numerous services and products to evolve thereafter
Promoting individuals and
businesses that cherish fairness and honesty in their business
dealings. While there will always be the “bad apples”
(of which we do stress the utmost caution in any market – “let
the buyer beware”), honest individuals and businesses deserve
to be given merit and recognition. Good business begets more good
business – and therefore the website should see some traders
therein excelling.
We asked the users of Nakasero.com to
assist us in safe-guarding these principles through the sharing of
ideas and to alert us of any persons or activities found on the site
that run counter to these ideals. We shall, to the best of our
ability, protect the website from abuse as well as to constantly
improve upon it.
